Ian Haughey follows up his report of last week on trying to get money owed from nPower: "Really nice people at nPower, specially Barry who on viewing my account notes remarked at my patience! And to be fair I think if he could have, he would have sorted my query out!

"The reason for calling nPower was not that I had finally received my statement, but a very nice letter from Giuseppe Di Vita, Managing Director, Residential, at nPower. He was asking me to 'keep in touch and take advantage of our nPower continued support' – wonderful, even offering to give me a discount of £80.00 off my annual account if I buy my Electricity and Gas – oh, and pay by Direct Debit. Do we have mains gas in Audlem? They really know their customers, don't they.

Anyway, I rang and dutifully held on for some ten minutes, because "my call is of importance to them", only to be told firstly that they could not find the supplier we have moved to – we've gone Green! – and that they could not tell me my end-bill, but they did put me through to 'Billing'.

"Anyway, after a very nice chat with the empathetic Barry, and a 27 minute call (nPower-paid, though my account is still very much in credit with them!), I left none the wiser other than that Barry would look to get the status on my complaint raised from a 'Pink' to hopefully nearer the 'Crimson' stage I was at a week or so ago.

"This could run and run......"
