With the current Forum on Audlem Online, which is at the request of the Parish Council, who want to know your views on whether Audlem should pay for a Police Community Support Officer (PCSO), PC Ken Maple has sent the following information:-

"The type of work PCSOs undertake in the community can include dealing with nuisance youths and confiscating alcohol from underage drinkers. They can deal with parking and speeding issues and have the ability to seize vehicles being used to in an anti-social manner. They can issue local authority tickets to address matters that time and time again are raised at community meetings as being of concern to local people like litter, graffiti and dog fouling.

In response to Judy's point (on the Forum) – at present the PCSOs do not work later than midnight, and I don't think this is likely to change in the near future.

Lastly , I have today spoken to the Chief Superintendent at Crewe, Ian Hopkins, and he has assured me that the appointment of a PCSO would not jeopardise the future of the village PC."
