More Awards

As described in yesterday's article, the Audlem-in-Bloom committee entered the Cemetery and Turnpike Fields into "It's Your Neighbourhood" (IYN), a non-competitive scheme to encourage communities to make a difference in their environment.

The judging took place on 5 August 2022, involving committee members escorting the judge around the village, explaining the plants, the community groups and improvements made over the past twelve months. Ralph Warburton gave the judge a guided tour of the Cemetery, and Adrian Leighton talked about Turnpike Fields, AWEG and ADAPT. Nancy-May Goodwin showed the judge the work recently undertaken to the Methodist Church.

Turnpike Field and the Cemetery both judged "outstanding".

The awards event took place in Horwich this year due to the closure of the Southport venue, which made travelling a bit easier. On 19 October, Ralph and Adrian travelled to Horwich for the IYN awards. Both entries were awarded an "outstanding" award, the top award in this category.
