Audlem's cricketers had mixed fortunes in the Cheshire Building Society Cricket Alliance yesterday.

Playing their first match of the season, Audlem 2nd XI were comfortable winners at home to Heaton Mersey Village 2nds in Division B East. Put in to bat first, HMV quickly reached 60 without loss before Geoff Seddon and Dave Parry put the brakes on their innings and reduced them to 70 for 5. A late flourish by HMV's tail enders took their score to 113 all out. Parry finished with 5 wickets for 29 and Seddon 2 for 21.

In reply Audlem scored runs quickly and a stand of 105 between Kevan Holt and George Gay took them to 110 in only 18 overs. Gay scored the winning runs off the next over to finish on 86 not out and give Audlem an eight-wicket victory.

The 1st XI's poor start to the season in Division 2 continued at Glazebury when they were beaten by 116 runs. Glazebury won the toss and batted first, scoring 207 for the loss of 6 wickets before declaring after 42 overs. Andy Jinks (3 for 38) and Hugh Ratcliffe (2 for 43) were the pick of Audlem's bowlers.

In reply, Audlem struggled from the start and were eventually all out for 91. Chris Shenton was Audlem's highest scorer with 28 runs.

Next week both teams play Disley with the 1sts playing at home whilst the 2nds travel for the reverse fixture.
