The Audlem Canal & River Trust midweek evening Towpath Taskforce event, took place on Wednesday this week, 20th April.

It was back to Lock 12 and the access at Bridge 78 to continue with work concentrating on improving the visual impact and user safety for all who use the canal and towpaths at Audlem.

  • Cut back external vegetation and overhanging branches opposite the Bridge Inn pub.
  • Removed weeds, foliage and soil from the heritage cobbled brick sett surface under Bridge 78 and in the village pound and making it safer to use.
  • Painted the Lock gates of Lock 12 (the metal work of the gates will be painted later in the year)
  • Painted the access gate from the village to the towpath at Bridge 78.
  • Painted 3 corner fences and removed leaves, dirt and litter from the edges of Bridge 78 along Whitchurch Road.
  • Edged grass and removed weeds from the quadrants and sides of Lock 12.

A great evening of mild work in lovely sunshine, rounded off with coffee and a selection of biscuit bars and snacks.
