The Canal & River Trust midweek evening Towpath Taskforce event, the first for 2016, took place on Wednesday, 6th April.
A gentle start to the year with work concentrating on improving the visual impact and user safety of the access to the towpath from the village at Bridge 78.
- We cut back external vegetation and overhanging branches, especially so that the brown sign directing visitors to the village and shops can be clearly seen, sighted from the lock and towpath
- Cleared overhanging vegetation from the access cobbled surface path from Bridge 78, making the access and egress safer to use.
- Removed weeds, foliage and soil from the cobbled sett surface completing the work on revealing the heritage cobbled surface and making it safer to use.
- Removed weeds from the retaining wall.
- Cleared the drain to ensure effective drainage at Bridge 78.
- Painted the pedestrian fence along the access ramp.
- Painted the safety fence at Lock 12 by wash.
