While passing through your village last week, I was delighted to find the well preserved Memorial lamp pillar from c 1877.
I have been unable to find any information on the web as to its origins, so maybe the following may be of interest to you:
- The pillar was manufactured by Walter Macfarlane & Co at the Saracen Foundry Glasgow – it is their diamond trademark on the collar below the base (see second photo).
- It is Lamp Pillar No 29 as illustrated in their catalogue of circa 1882.
I can send you a copy of the relevant page if it would be of interest.

AudlemOnline adds: We have responded to John's kind offer of sending us the page from the 1882 catalogue as we are sure this will be of interest to Audlem District History Society.
