Memorial bench trashed

Sadly I have to say that on Saturday night / Sunday morning we had the mindless yobs – local ones – deciding to be brave and to trash stuff.

They have totally destroyed a bench placed by ADAS in memory of a valued member of this village organisation.

This was sited on the village green, a small quiet place were it was good to sit and enjoy a tranquil moment or two.

This, plus the very rewarding pursuit (to them) of ripping up flowers and trashing hanging baskets. So very brave in the dead of night.

When I was asked by the Britain in Bloom judges (and yes – I was asked by them to accompany them on behalf of ADAS to answer those who hide behind nom de plumes on that Chatbox), I did so and was happy to tell them we do not have mindless damage and no graffiti. I spoke too soon.

I ask if anyone can cast any light on the perpetrators to please contact us. Perhaps we can then direct their activities to better things for the good of the village and all who live here – and all who come to visit.
