Memorial Bench for Ann Cowen at Audlem Baptist Church

On Sunday April 24th at Audlem Baptist Church there was a Service of Thanksgiving for the life of Ann Cowen who died aged 96 on April 11th 2020. This was the start of the pandemic and a time when funerals were very restricted. Ever since then the family have wanted to have a proper church service so that all Ann's family and friends could come together and celebrate her long and interesting life.

The service, which was conducted by the Reverend Andrew Funnell, was a wonderful occasion and the church was full.

Bill Cowen and his family decided that they would like to install a bench in Ann's memory in the church garden. The bench has an inscription of part of one of Ann's favourite Bible verses: The Lord is my Shepherd and has been positioned against the south facing wall of the building looking out over Holmes Bank and across to the other side of Audlem Vale and along to the centre of the village.

You are very welcome when walking past the church to pause for a rest, or to recall some of your own memories, or simply to sit and think in a quiet and sacred space.
