The debate about the proposed marina just outside Audlem makes the the whole of the front page of this week's Chronicle. Under the headline "Don't ruin our canal", the story focuses on the efforts of those opposed to the development, some of whom are pictured. The report says: "Protestors have inundated Crewe & Nantwich Borough Council with letters of objection and have raised 50 issues against the plans."

The coverage does conclude by reporting that the bid is supported by British Waterways, the Inland Waterways Association and the Shropshire Union Canal Society. The council's planning chiefs have also given it the green light although it is the councillors who will be judging on Friday its merits and the objections to the new marina.
