Regular readers will recall that last weekend's London Marathon involved fund-raising for a local cause. Gareth Hall was running to raise money for Leighton Hospital. Gareth completed the 26 miles plus in 4 hours, 9 minutes and 54 seconds and has, so far, raised the magnificent sum of around £1,500.
Gareth's involvement arose after, in October 2006, Buerton resident Derek Jenkins, suffered a stroke which left him unable to walk. Thanks to the help of many people he is recovering and we trust that his progress will be maintained in the coming months.
Derek is a friend of Audlem residents Linda and Roland Hall. Their son is Gareth (who is a football mate of Derek) and he decided to raise money for a charity of Derek's choice. All donations are being matched by his employers, the energy company Eon, up to £500. It was Derek who decided he would like to support Leighton Hospital through the Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charitable Fund.
