The Nantwich Chronicle reported the following:

Manslaughter suspect appears in court over Audlem death

The next hearing in relation to the case will be at Chester Crown Court in the New Year

A man has appeared in court charged with manslaughter following the death of a father from Audlem earlier this year.

Samuel Thorpe, 23, of Annions Lane in Wybunbury, appeared in South Cheshire Magistrates Court in Crewe this morning (Thursday) charged with manslaughter, and was granted conditional bail until the next hearing.

The charge relates to an incident on Friday, May 25 on Shropshire Street in Audlem when 45-year-old Adam Lovatt was found with serious injuries.

He was taken to the Royal Stoke Hospital where he later died.

Nicholas Hill, 35, of Moorsfield Avenue in Audlem also appeared in court alongside Thorpe, having been summonsed to court in relation to assisting an offender.

Both Thorpe and Hill have been granted conditional bail (Thorpe restricted to outside 1mile of Audlem and Hill outside 400yds of the Lovatt family home) until the next hearing.

Their next court appearance will be on January 16 at Chester Crown Court.
