A man accused of causing the death of cyclist Stewart Gandy (pictured here) following a fatal collision near Audlem last year, has appeared in court.

Paul Anthony Byrne, from Leigh in Lancashire, is charged with causing death by dangerous driving following the collision on the A530, the Nantwich – to Whitchurch road, on November 12th.

Steward Gandy was cycling to visit his uncle, Harry Knapper, in Audlem on the day of the collision, as reported on AudlemOnline following the tragedy.

Mr Byrne, aged 36, was arrested following the incident and was charged on 30th April and appeared at Crewe Magistrates Court on Tuesday. The case was then sent to Chester Crown Court where Byrne will next appear on June 4th. He was released on bail until then.
