Sue Poole, May Hunter and Ralph Warburton report: "The Macmillan Nurses Nation Wide Coffee and Cake event we held at Corbrook Court on Friday 26th September was a roaring success.
"Between the hours of 2.00pm to 4.00pm, we were able to serve many supporters with coffee, tea and cake – lovingly baked by Sue, May and Ralph – and to run a raffle plus a game of gentle chance. A coffee maker, complete with all cups etc, was also on offer in a sealed bid auction.
"All in all a good afternoon, with lots of chatting and socialising. Pauline Griffiths had a stand of her costume jewellery and was able to give us 10% from her sales as a contribution.
Jane Iddon (who Ralph knows from the days when she and her husband started the Carthouse Croft Restaurant at Woore many years ago) of The Corbrook Staff was a very live wire in helping with the event and ensuring residents of the Court enjoyed the excitment of the afternoon.
"The total raised to-date is the great sum of £435 – with more still to come – and we may get close to £500. That's much better than last year and we say a huge thank you to all who supported this very noble cause."
