A visitor from Nantwich this week had a mishap while visiting Audlem. He lost his wallet but, having visited a number of locations as well as the village that day, did not know where it had gone missing.

Fortunately, the wallet was spotted in the middle of Shropshire Street near the Square by an Audlem resident.

The contents were sodden but, as well as damp bank notes and credit cards, there was a driving licence with the owner's address. Luckily the name was in the phone book – an increasingly rare event as the directories get slimmer and slimmer and BT only seem to record their own customers rather than all with a land-line.

A quick phone call found the very grateful visitor and arrangements were made for a shop in Audlem to take in the lost item to be picked up later. It's good to publish a story with such a very happy ending.
