Peter Kay is leading the Long ARS walk scheduled for Saturday 8th April leaving Audlem Car Park at 8.40 am

Peter writes:-
The walk starts at the Secret Hills Discovery Centre in Craven Arms. The first few miles are a pleasant amble along the Onny River valley. The latter part of this section is along the Onny Trail which runs along the trackbed of the old Craven Arms to Bishops Castle railway line. Coffee will probably be taken by the river facing a famous (for Geologists!) unconformity.

The character of the walk then changes abruptly as the path climbs steeply out of the valley. It continues through hilly country over the top of Wart Hill and along the broad ridge of Hopesay Common. The path then descends gradually to the Clun valley and continues parallel to the track of the Heart of Wales railway line back to the Discovery Centre café where tea and cake awaits.

Start time: 8.40. If we leave earlier the toilets won't be open.

Length: 10 miles; Ascent: 1300ft. There are some steep climbs.

Grade: 3 Boots
All walkers must have suitable footwear and be prepared for adverse weather, carry food and water to last for the entire walk and be suitably fit for the various lengths of walk.
Each walk is led by a nominated leader who will carry some first-aid equipment. The leader has the right to refuse to include in a group anyone who is felt not be adequately equipped.
