Karen Mason is leading the next Long ARS walk on Saturday 13th July; meet Audlem Car Park to leave at 8.30 am.

Ceiriog Valley walk July 13th 2024

This is a lovely 6.5 mile walk from Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceiriog onto the hills of Cefn Hir-Fynydd. It fits the criteria for a 'mid' rather than 'long' ARS due to length and presenting only a moderate level of difficulty. Nevertheless, there is a particularly steep bank to manoeuvre and a fairly sharp descent towards the end.

We park in the centre of the village and follow a quiet lane at first before crossing fields with sheep towards a woodland path, which leads to the village of Tregeiriog. We continue along field paths to reach open pastureland, again with sheep. A steep bank and undulating lanes bring us to an upland track (Upper Ceiriog Trail) with excellent views of the Berwyn mountains.

We leave the UCT to take a short-cut which descends via a beautiful side-valley to a lane leading back to the village where there is the option of refreshments at The Hand.

Max elevation 434m. Total ascent 299m.

Meet at Audlem car park to leave at 8.30am. Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceiriog is 1hr 10 mins from Audlem. There are free toilets en route, in the centre of the village of Glyn Ceiriog (on the left just after the roundabout).

Postcode for Llanarmon DC is: LL207LD

NB All walkers must have suitable footwear and be prepared for adverse weather, carry food and water to last for the entire walk and be suitably fit for the various lengths of walk.
Each walk is led by a nominated leader who will carry some first-aid equipment. The leader has the right to refuse to include in a group anyone who is felt not be adequately equipped.
Non-members of Audlem Rambling Society (ARS) are welcome to come on a walk but are expected to join ARS and pay the membership fee after a trial walk or two.
