The Long-ARS walk on Saturday 8th November will be an 8 – 9 mile circular walk from Danebridge on the Cheshire / Staffordshire border.

As it's a little shorter than some ARS (Audlem Ramblers' Society) expeditions, an added attraction will come at the end – a visit to the Wincle Brewery at Danebridge.

Not only is this an excellent small craft brewery, but it was set up and is run by ex-Audlem resident Giles Meadows who was brought up in a house in the very centre of Audlem.

Giles is planning to meet the ARS group who will be tasting beers and hopefully bringing some bottles back to the village.

Wincle beers are regularly on sale in The Lord Combermere. More on the brewery shortly.

The walk is on generally good paths, although there can be muddy stretches. Heading off from Danebridge, we cross the River Dane and follow it to Gradbach through a mix of woodland, heathland and moor.

From Gradbach, it's an easy ascent up to the famous Ludd's Church, a rocky crevice, and then on to Roach End after a climb from woodland. It's then a very pleasant walk on the ridge path back to Danebridge and the Wincle Brewery.

This is an easy 3-booter finished with a 5-star tasting session. The walk is led by Bob Cartwright. Meet on Audlem car park at 8.30am for the roughly one hour long drive to Danebridge.
