England have just won the Ashes. The next big question is "who is going to win Audlem Cricket Club's Local Knockout competition?"

The answer will soon be known, as the semi-finals and final take place this Sunday, 30 August.

The first semi-final is between The Usual Suspects and The Shroppie Fly, followed by The Dark Side (Lord Combermere) against Legal Eagles.

Each team has eight players, none of whom can be regular league players. The games comprise 15 overs and a batsman must retire when he has scored 25 runs, unless he is the last man remaining at the wicket. In the final each team has two innings.

The first game will start at 11.30 am. If you fancy an afternoon watching local people playing knockout cricket, do go up to the Gorse Croft. The bar will be open all day.

Then on Bank Holiday Monday there is a 20/20 competition featuring Audlem, Haslington and Winnington Park. More details to follow.
