Local dressage rider Izzy Maughan will shortly be finishing off a very competitive summer at the Le Mieux National British Dressage Championships.

Izzy qualified for the nationals at the Regional Qualifier in July, coming 2nd in the hotly contested elementary class with Jo Ellis-Jones's Santino Royale, known as Ferdi at home.

Shortly after she was selected to ride for North and West England in the BD Youth Home International which took place at the David Broome Event Centre in Monmouthshire and also had a top ten finish at the Sheepgate U25's Championships in Lincolnshire.

Izzy trains with Callum Whitworth and local rider Gemma Moss and works as a freelance rider, coach and groom. Izzy says "We've had a great season with some solid top ten placings and I'm delighted that we've qualified for our first nationals. He's a fantastic little horse but can be quite sensitive at times. Nationals will be a great experience for him and we hope to do Audlem proud".

The Le Mieux National Championships takes place at Somerford Park, Congleton, from 16th to 19th September and over the four days of competition features many top riders, including Olympic Gold medallist Charlotte Dujardin.
