I write to share that the good work of residents from Burleydam, Wilkesley and Lightwood Green who before Christmas came together in a 'Socially Distanced Community Litter Pick'.
We covered Whitchurch Road, Local Lanes and the three lay-bys collecting many bags of discarded waste including energy drink bottles, lager cans and fast food chain wrappers.
The Lay-bys were home to a complete set of kitchen pans, child's car seat, car tyres and many empty wine bottles.
The litter pick is normally arranged twice a year, it brings members of the community together and this year more than ever highlighted its importance in caring for our rural area.
On a personal note, I hope that during 2021 our beautiful 'place' continues to be embraced by all and as we rightly focus on our environment the importance of disposing of litter safely is remembered.
I attach a couple of pictures of the Burleydam pick and of litter at the Coole Lane/A525 junction which I plan to start clearing this Tuesday afternoon.
Please me know if you would like to join in!With best wishes for 2021 and 'keep safe'
