A reminder that tomorrow, Saturday, it's LifeJam, a day of music and entertainment at the Lord Combermere in aid of St David's RNLI Boathouse Appeal.

Why St David's, in Pembrokeshire, you may be asking. Well the answer can be found in just two words: Reuben Palin.

Reub has been one the mainstays of Audlem music for a decade or more. He has amazing contacts in the world of music, notably in Manchester, and has attracted bands like the Rainband, The Travelling Band, The Reads and many more to Audlem for the Festival each May and to Thursday music nights at the Lord C.

Tour posters for bands such as the Rainband have been remarkable, listing tours taking in Rome, Florence, Cannes, Lyons, Audlem, Glasgow, Leeds etc – pretty impressive company for a south Cheshire village.

A couple of years ago, Reub moved with his family to work in Pembrokeshire, although still returning to help run and compere Festival events each year. Since moving, he has joined the crew of the St David's lifeboat.

The lifeboat station at St David's was established by the RNLI in 1869. Some 330 lives have been saved since that date with a lifeboat crew made up from all walks of life.

The pub will be hosting a full day of live music featuring the talents of:

  • The Duffey Boys
  • Heidi Brown
  • Dave Nettleton
  • Roydan Styles
  • Darren Poyzer
  • Chrystal Ships
  • Jack Marshall
  • Mike Chant, who is also playing tonight from 9.00pm at the Lord C.
  • and Mark Stevens.

All the musicians have given their time totally free and Hollow Floor Studios are providing all the sound at no cost at all. Many businesses have kindly sponsored the day and all, we are sure, will be very grateful to all who have made this day possible.

LifeJam – Saturday 18th October – it should be a fantastic day and night.
