Audlem Saints faced a determined and well organised Cougars team on Sunday. Audlem passed the ball beautifully and created many chances but for two thirds of the game there were no goals! This was mainly due to an outstanding goalkeeping display by the Cougars keeper and also a little bit of anxiety in front of goal.

To their credit, the Saints continued to play measured and precise football and eventually got their reward. The breakthrough came from a rare poor defensive clearance by Cougars. It fell straight to the Audlem striker who sprinted forward with the ball, rounded the keeper and calmly rolled the ball home to open the scoring.

A wonderful passing move created a second goal and a third came courtesy of a clinical finish from a corner kick. The 3-0 score line was probably a fair reflection of a game in which the Audlem boys played some very neat football.

Played 3, won 2 drawn 1 and next week Audlem face Betley.
