AudlemOnline has received this advice from Shelley Woods of Cheshire Police via the Neighbourhood & Home Watch Network.
Cheshire Police are reminding all residents to be vigilant as darker nights draw in and homeowners can find themselves the victim of a 'twilight' burglary – a break in committed in the early/late evening, when houses are left in darkness as owners are away at work as the longer darker nights are upon us.
Simple steps can be taken to protect your home from this type of crime. Install timer light switches, ensure your hedges and bushes are kept low so that anyone loitering around your home/grounds could be easily spotted, and if possible install a good quality alarm system or even CCTV.
Keep your eyes and ears open – if you see someone acting suspiciously, or an unfamiliar car spotted in unusual circumstances, report your concerns to us on 101.
