It was a night to remember at the Shroppie Fly when the Johnny Miller band, a seemingly endless array of local musical talent, provided entertainment of the highest class to celebrate Johnny's birthday. The roars of approval at the end of every number said it all. We had everything from blues to country to rock & roll, even some violin-led sea shanties to get us in the mood for Proms on the Park in a month's time.Anybody who had drifted in on a narrowboat, who likes good music, must have thought they had landed in heaven. And they were probably right! On a warm, balmy night, with a cooling gentle breeze from the canal, excellent beer, and music of this calibre, could there have been a better place to spend Friday night. If there was, answers on a postcard, please. Happy birthday Johnny, and thanks for a great night.
