Spider Sustenance

One morning, last week,
I watched a host of midgies
Circling outside my front window
Round and round they went
Fiendish. Possessed. Frenzied!

Little did they know
They were being watched!
Not by only by me, but a hungry little spider!
This tiny spider is quite a character
But I'm glad she's on the outside -
'cos if she were indoors
Things would be quite different!!

One by one the midgies disappeared
Captured and wrapped into tiny little bundles
Swaying in the breeze on a dainty web, then -
Put into a spider's larder
To be devoured at a later date!

Now as I have another look ,
No midges, no spider. She's
Likely having a "Midgie Feast"
Or sleeping, dreaming of another midgie meal.

Two days later, she's hungry once more!
She's on the lookout –
But,- no Midgies, not even a fly!-
Oh woe, Oh dear,Oh my.
