Jazz band perform fundraising gig in Adderley

'Three 4 The Bar' performed a fundraising concert at Adderley Village Hall on the evening of Thursday 30th March 2023.

Three 4 The Bar were formed in 2022 and consists of Sharon James (vocalist), Diane Hullah (saxophonist) and Terry James (pianist, composer and arranger).

Their set list included original compositions and sophisticated arrangements of Smooth Jazz, Swing and Latin music: Moondance, That old Devil called love, Back to the days of swing, Bewitched, Aqua De Beber, Extremely dry with a twist, Spooky, Lullaby of Birdland, In these shoes, You and me: We're gonna swing, My baby just cares for me, Can't help loving that man, Man Wanted, Satin doll, Do wrong shoes, Music for the cocktail hour, Like a lover, Why don't you do right, Feeling good. The concert reached a crescendo when the band performed Fever as their encore to an appreciative audience.

The bar was open all evening. The prize raffle draw took place during the interval, along with event organiser Phil Gadd singing two songs accompanied by pianist Terry.

Proceeds from the concert will go to Adderley Village Hall.

Three 4 The Bar can next be seen performing at The Crown on the Monday (6-8pm) during the Nantwich Jazz & Blues Festival ( which takes place annually over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.

Phil Gadd, Adderley Village Hall, said: "Hopefully everyone has enjoyed the evening and if we raise some funds for our village hall, that will be a bonus. Remember to join the AVH Facebook page to keep informed of future events."

Adderley Parish is one of the largest in Shropshire stretching from Audlem in Cheshire to the border with North Staffordshire. This rural Parish with a small population has a vibrant agricultural base but sits within four miles of the market town of Market Drayton.

Adderley boasts beautiful, unspoilt countryside through which runs the Shropshire Union Canal making its way through the Adderley locks to the Audlem flight on its way into Cheshire.

The Village has a grade 1 listed Church, St Peters, a village school and a busy Village Hall and championship Bowling Club.
