On Saturday 17th March, a night when one might have been tempted to stay at home and stoke up the fire, the snow and ice could not deter the many who came along to St James to enjoy a thoroughly entertaining evening provided by Eric Newton and Friends, also known as 'Willies Weepers Jazz Band'.

A bit of everything

They performed a large variety of jazz numbers during the evening – some of their personal favourites, some less well known and some familiar – a bit of everything from a moving rendition of The Old Rugged Cross to When the Saints Go Marching In – well it was in church!

The proceeds from the concert were in aid of the St James Church Fabric Fund, and, including the proceeds of the raffle, a sum of over £640 was raised.

Many thanks to Eric and the Band, to all those who supported the concert and to all those who helped with the pre-concert arrangements and on the evening to make it such a success.
