ITV's Good Morning Britain show gave the Mend our Mum campaign an amazing boost this morning with coverage throughout their show.

And the verdict of the studio presenters: "Small village – Big Heart" – which captures Audlem perfectly.

The ITV crew arrived at 5.30am to set up the satellite truck and test the signal. There were live interviews with correspondent Katy Fawcett from 6.20am – a little earlier than planned because of the Australian siege story breaking this morning – before a full live broadcast from the church mound at 8.10am.

Large numbers of villagers of all ages turned out and delivered a rousing verse of Amazing Grace for the camera accompanied by many of the musicians that appeared in the video.

Macy, now getting used to stardom, was interviewed and revealed that they had sellotaped her to the floor to keep her still during the original filming.

Berni was interviewed for both broadcasts as were her daughters Terri and Hannah. Alisdair Mackenzie, who had been musical director throughout the filming, and producer Ralph Warburton were filmed and dozens, if not hundreds of others, were seen in the show as many clips from the video were seen.

Meanwhile, on BBC Radio 2, Chris Evans was lauding the video. That's another show with a huge audience so word is spreading rapidly. As Alisdair Mackenzie said on TV, and the presenters too, will it give the X-Factor winner a run for the Number 1 slot this Christmas!

And if you have been desperate, but unsuccessful, in obtaining a copy of the DVD, 500 more are being rushed to the village today and should be available this afternoon at Williams' newsagents, the Village Chippy, The Lord Combermere and at Dagfields at Classic Stone.

Priced at £5 or more if you wish to donate, this is a wonderful souvenir of an amazing community effort for a very serious cause. And it's very easy to post to friends and relatives.

Or go on to the Mend our Mum website if you wish to donate – http://www.gofundme.com/cij464 – or simply to read the wonderful messages coming in from all over the country.

We understand over £50,000 has now been raised which means the fund-raising has passed the half way mark. There are large numbers of cheques and cash donations on top of the £34,000 – and rising – on the GoFundMe Mend our Mum website.

And it's the Charity Quiz tomorrow night – see separate story today – which should prove a further boost, as will the DVD sales.
