It's ours!

Yesterday saw the completion of the sale of Green Lane Field to Audlem Parish Council.

At meetings and via questionnaires residents had given the go ahead for the Parish Council to bid for the field in order to keep it as a green space in the heart of the village. They had also given their blessing for the Parish Council to take out a loan from the Public Works Loan Board which would be repaid by increasing the Council Tax. With this level of support a bid was duly submitted.

In addition, more than 100 residents volunteered to give a donation towards the development of the field. This money will be ring-fenced to ensure that it can only be spent on it.

When the Parish Council was notified in June that its bid had been successful, local Solicitor Martyn Measures volunteered to carry out the legal work. The Parish Council is extremely grateful to Martyn for the effort that he put in for a very nominal charge.

Following protracted negotiations the title deed was finally signed and the field handed over to the Parish yesterday.

Open Meeting – 6th September

The Parish Council is holding an Open Meeting on Thursday 6th September at 7pm in the Public Hall. It is hoped that as many residents as possible will turn up to give their views on the future of the field.
