Is the earth moving for you too?

Anyone living within a mile of the centre of Audlem is suffering/enjoying (optional choice) a regular vibrating throb every few seconds as the pile driver operating on the Mossley's Yard building site continues its 'Journey to the Centre of the Earth'. Estimates as to how deep the pile driver is going range from 6 metres to a massive 13 metres. Is it a building site, some ask, or are they actually drilling for oil?

One of the volunteer workers at the nearby Cancer Charity Shop was still shuddering involuntarily every five seconds at a party on Saturday night, many hours after finishing her shift at the shop. It's also said some nearby buildings' windows have had to be painted with a bomb-proof coating to prevent them cracking with each earth shattering thump.

Maybe, we wonder, is Audlem Online's suggestion late last week that the Shropshire Street River could flow onto the Mossley's Yard site and form a lagoon, so turning the village into a mini-Venice complete with the canal, all too true. The Venetians did, after all, have to sink very deep piles before building their city! Now, just maybe, we're learning how they did it.
