Earlier this week, Audlem Online received a message from Roy Hartwell in Northamptonshire. He said: "I am trying to get in touch with Mr Frank Edwards or a member of his family. I am researching the history of Irchester station in Northamptonshire where Mr Edwards was the Stationmaster in 1960 at the time of its closure.

"I believe Mr Edwards moved to Audlem at this time, and possibly worked for the railway at Crewe. I would be most grateful for any information on this matter." The appeal was published on Tuesday 19th January.

Given that it's now exactly fifty years since Irchester Station closed, and that stationmasters always seemed a little older than mere youngsters, we thought Roy's appeal was unlikely to yield a result.

The excellent news is that Mr Frank Edwards' daughter, an Audlem resident, has been in touch and that her father Frank Edwards still lives in Audlem. She and Frank are getting in touch with Roy Hartwell which, we are sure, will add much needed information and colour to the history of Irchester station.
