A packed Scout Hall enjoyed a spooky and original 'frightful comedy' by Day-Star Theatre on Saturday night – A Night at Blackstone Hall.
This really is 'professional theatre on your doorstep' – for cast, sound, lighting and promoter are all from Audlem. It was also theatre of the highest order that would give any stage a run for its money.
The plot sees Britain's most popular psychic medium, Clarissa De Vere, being accused on a live TV show of being a fake by her old adversary Dr Thomas Cruikshank, who debunks all things paranormal.
The two agree to spend a night in England's second most haunted house in England. But they will not be alone!
The six characters involved are all played by Pete and Jane Marshall with numerous and stylish changes of costume and accent. There is a beautiful twist at the end and the audience seemed engrossed and involved throughout as the well-constructed plot unfolds.
This was a true family affair with George Marshall on lighting and Jack Marshall responsible for the music and sound. The evening was promoted by Ian Haughey of Hoc Productions of Cheshire Street.
With the audience enjoying their own liquid and light refreshments throughout the evening, this is relaxed and intimate theatre at its very best.
Look out for future productions by Day-Star Theatre in the village – on Saturday night's evidence, satisfaction is guaranteed.
