Customers of the Bridge Inn last night had even more entertainment than they expected with the news that the International Space Station was clearly in view over the village.

At 8.37pm precisely, it's reported, the huge space ship was over the pub and customers flocked outside to view it. One customer, Peter Oxley said: "It was like a huge aircraft but traveling much faster and brighter. The light wasn't blinking, as with a plane, and it was a fantastic sight – particularly with a pint of the Bridge's best bitter in my hand. It's highly unlikely that the spacemen on board were enjoying a beverage of similar Pedigree!"

Motorists passing by may have been surprised to see so many locals peering skywards – and trying to block out the effect of the street lamps at the same time to improve their view. All is now explained.
