AudlemOnline has on various occasions published articles highlighting the dangerous approach to the Weaver bridge on the Whitchurch road.

A cyclist was seriously injured a few years ago and there have been numerous accidents partly demolishing the parapet stones. Last night, Tuesday evening, a serious incident occured again demolishing half the South side parapet, blocking the road and no doubt seriously damaging the vehicle.

Surely now is the time for Cheshire East Highways to improve the approaches to the bridge, with better signs, reflectors, and some form of pinch point to make the bridge one direction only when a vehicle is crossing.

This was taken up by the Parish Council with Cheshire East last year and we now understand the work is scheduled for May this year although without a 'priority' system. Reflectors will be installed and the speed limit sign moved half way up the bank westwards towards Whitchurch.

Whether this will be sufficient, only time will tell.
