We would like to thank everyone who so generously sponsored our 1 mile open water swim at Salford Quays which we successfully completed on Sunday 1st July.

Thanks to the generosity of all those who sponsored us,we have raised a total of  £1,525  for Macmillan Cancer Support.

We were originally registered to do the 1-mile swim in Lake Windermere on Saturday 23rd June but because of an appalling storm with gale force winds that weekend, British Gas,the organisers were forced to cancel.

Fortunately we were able at the last minute to enter the British Gas Great Manchester swim at Salford Quays the following weekend.

We had been training very hard and felt confident about completing the distance. Nonetheless we found our first experience of swimming in wetsuits (compulsory) very difficult  and were very relieved to finish.

Our JustGiving site – click on the link below the photos - remains open for anyone who still wishes to make a contribution.

It includes some photos of our 'mass red hat launch', Shelagh and I looking very relieved and exhausted at the finish, and finally the pair of us having warmed up with coffee and junk food at the Macmillan charity tent.
