Huftons swim for Macmillan

Sexagenerian Success – eventually

Having been thwarted by the weather the previous weekend when we were entered for the British Gas Great Northern Swim (1 mlle swim in Lake Windermere – it was cancelled because of dangerously high winds) we were able to transfer to swim the British Gas Great Manchester Swim the following weekend- also 1 mile.

On Sunday 1st July at 1.30pm we, and thousands of others, launched into Salford Quays. We were in the Red Wave, distinguished (see pictures) by the colour of our swimming hats.

Though we were admittedly a few minutes short of the 1 mile Olympic qualifying time, we were relieved to finish before it got dark!

Many, many thanks to all of our sponsors for Macmillan Cancer Care. Thanks to your interest and generosity the final total raised is likely to be in excess of £1000 about which we and Macmillan are very thrilled.
