How to beat "Fake Britain"

The TV programme Fake Britain highlighted the scandal of some "charity" bag organisations trading fraudulently, thus depriving genuine charitable bodies of much needed funding.

Many charity bag organisations are entirely bona fide, but it can be difficult to recognise fraudulent bags as increasingly they copy almost precisely genuine bags.

You can avoid being taken for a ride! A reliable,well known local method is to donate clothes and domestic goods to the Audlem Charity Shop. While we cannot accept large items, we can arrange for them to be collected for subsequent sale. St.Luke's Hospice volunteers visit Audlem Charity Shop once a month.

We can accept clothing, including shoes, in any condition, but other items have to be legal and safe and have a second hand value. Jewellery may be repairable by one of the volunteers, but all jewellery and watches are particularly welcome.

In the previous 12 months we raised and donated £20,000 to a locally respected charity, St.Luke's Hospice, which supports and cares for people with severe disabling or terminal conditions and their families.

None of our volunteers receive any payment, we are (unusually for a charity shop) entirely voluntary.
