History Society Meeting

Audlem and District History Society

The next meeting of Audlem History Society will take place on Thursday evening, 16th March, 2023, at 7.30pm in the Scout and Guide Hall, and features a talk by Kerry Kirwan, the Heritage Officer for Middlewich Town Council.

The talk is entitled “Murgatroyds: a salt history of Middlewich”, and is a potted history of the salt and chemical industry in that town, with special reference to the Murgatroyd firm.

Kerry and other volunteers set up the Middlewich Heritage Trust in 2015, and the Trust’s main project is the restoration of Murgatroyd’s Brine Pumps. Kerry will also bring along some relevant archive items to the talk on the evening itself.

All are very welcome to join us then, including any visitors (please pay £3 on the door on arrival).
