"Manchester's Ancoats Little Italy"

The first speaker for our 2025 series of talks will be Tony Rea, an Ancoats man.

In the nineteenth century there was an exodus of Italian immigrants to the U.K.,some of whom settled in Ancoats, Manchester, creating the area known as "Little Italy".

They enhanced the Catholic Whit Walks, and pioneered the British ice cream industry,but there was trouble during World War 2 when they were perceived as a threat.

We are meeting as usual at 7.30pm in the Scout and Guide Hall in Audlem, onThursday 16th January, 2025.
