Historic Boats in Town

Yesterday we reported that the canal through Audlem was closed on Thursday at Lock 7 because of a rotten post.This put the Historic Boats gathering this weekend in jeopardy but the Canal and River Trust pulled out all the stops and by early Friday afternoon Peter Silvester, the organiser, reports that the canal was open.

This allowed the 7 boats above lock 7 to join the others moored in the village. the Sun shone on Saturday and many people were able to view the boats and imagine life on the canal approximately 100 years ago and into the first half of the last century.

The Transport festival arrives today Sunday so we hope the weather will be kind to allow enjoyment by all.
