It's just over a week to go to the Gathering of Historic Narrow Boats at Audlem, which is held on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 July.

We have 30 old ex-working boats booked in, dating from between about 1895 and 1935 -- so the youngest is nearly 85 years old! Though many have been here before since the event started over ten years ago, several are new to the event.

The boats come from all over the Midlands and North West, some taking many days to get here. Some of the boats are in exactly the same form as when working, with open holds for the cargo (they could carry between 20-25 tons), but others have had cabins added to provide more accommodation for cruising.

The event is organised by Peter and Chris Silvester at Audlem Mill, and is sponsored by CanalBookShop, their book publishing business.

It is supported by the Historic Narrow Boat Club, and many thanks go to Canal & River Trust, who kindly let us use their canal, and provide many facilities for the event.
