At last Monday's Audlem Parish Council meeting, it was announced that the council was asking the Nantwich Local Area Partnership highways meeting – which ultimately decides which local projects go forward for consideration by Cheshire East Council – for a 40mph limit to be imposed on the Woore road.
If implemented, this would extend from the end of the current 30mph zone at Paddock Lane and, working with Buerton Parish Council, to beyond the built-up part of Buerton.
Audlem Parish Council also agreed that a highways priority was to achieve a 40mph limit at Swanbach on the A529 because of the dangerous junction there.
A mini-roundabout at the junction of Green Lane, the A525 and Tollgate Drive just to the west of the village centre, was also felt desirable by the Parish Council.
Concern was expressed about the road slowly sinking in Cheshire Street near to Daisy Bank. Councillors felt this was a potentially serious issue and the road needed digging out and exploring properly rather than just filling it in again with tarmac.
