Editor's comment – AudlemOnline published this story yesterday (and we have already had several worthwhile responses) – this is the official version (with an extra tweak at the end).

At the recent Cheshire Community Action's Pride of Cheshire Awards Evening, Audlem was particularly successful winning not only Best Kept Village of its size and Best Community Website Award, but also the Community Spirit Award and then topped off the evening by winning Best Overall Village/Small Town in Cheshire!

The Overall Award came with two prizes – a framed painting of Shropshire Street by Gordon Wilkinson and a cheque for £100.The Community Spirit Award also came with a prize of £100 and the village gained 3 new Wall Plaques in just one year!

At Monday's Parish Council Meeting, Parish Councillors agreed that the prize money of £200 should be used for the benefit of the community, particularly the groups that played such a large part in gaining these awards for Audlem, however no specific project was decided upon. It was agreed to ask the community for inspiration and I am sure you are aware that the Audlem On-line team are helping by asking residents for their input in their recent article "Hey Big Spenders!". Hopefully the Parish Council will have some splendid (but still practical!) ideas to consider at its next meeting!

Finally, Audlem Medical Practice has very kindly agreed to give the delightful Gordon Wilkinson painting a home, so that the community can see it when visiting the surgery.
