You don't have to handle it all yourself if you're struggling with your emotions or mental health

Following a survey from The Children's Society showing that more than a fifth of 14-year-old girls in the UK said they had self-harmed, NHS commissioners in South Cheshire and Vale Royal want to tell children and young people that there is help available.

NHS South Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and NHS Vale Royal CCG are responsible for planning and buying certain health services across the area, and this includes services for emotional and mental health.

The CCGs want to make sure that you know what type of support you can get, and how to get it.

Dr Teresa Strefford, GP and Clinical Director of Commissioning at the CCGs, said: "We have a number of different ways for you to get support across South Cheshire and Vale Royal, but the most important thing for you to do if you are feeling down or are struggling with your emotions is to talk about it with someone.

"You are not alone, so please don't be embarrassed – we are here to help."

The Children and Young People's Out of Hours Advice Line lets you speak to a specially trained clinician who you can talk to about how you're feeling. The phone line- 01244 397 644- is open from 5-10pm Monday to Friday and noon-8pm Saturday and Sunday.

If you don't feel like you can talk to someone over the phone, you can also get help online. www.youinmind.org is full of help and advice, it will also give you other options of where to go if you still need some help.

You can also download our Self Help Guides app which is also full of information, audio clips and videos to help you when you need it. Search for South Cheshire CCG & Vale Royal CCG Self Help Guides in the Apple App Store or Google Play.
