The Audlem Music and Arts Festival 2015 kicked off with the fourth Audlem Poetry Slam. Poets came from as far away as Wiltshire to compete for the much coveted trophy and the £50 prize.

Twelve fabulous poets went head to head in the first round. Local writer Ann Jones of Hankelow narrowly missed winning her heat and getting through to the semis by .5 of a mark while Helen Kaye of Nantwich secured a place by winning her heat.

Jessie of Audlem, who has been a firm favourite in previous slams, was well received as the guest poet and entertained the audience at the start of the evening before returning to start the second half with some more of her verse and a cheeky limerick!

The range of poetry and performance styles didn't disappoint and the judges had an almost impossible task of deciding who should make it through to the final. In the end it came down to a battle between Nick Lovell from Swindon, Spoz of Birmingham and Adrian McKenzie who had travelled in from Stoke-on-Trent.

The high energy, hyper active Brummie, Spoz, (shown in full flow in the photo) seized the day and took the spoils with a faultless delivery of his highly entertaining and hilarious final poem .

Thanks to everyone who turned out to watch and cheer on the poets, making it such a lively atmosphere, and to Gary and Vicky at the Bridge for their warm welcome.
