Audlem School received a glowing report following a recent Diocese inspection that took place on 20th October 2010. The main conclusions of the report are as follows:

The distinctiveness and effectiveness of Audlem St James as a Church of England school are good.

Audlem St James` is a good Church of England Primary School that nurtures and values children as unique individuals within a community guided by clear Christian principles.

Children and parents value the caring attitude of both the headteacher and her staff team describing them as kind, helpful and approachable. Children value the care they receive from adults and are rightly proud of the friendships they have with each other.

Learners are nurtured in a safe, secure environment. Individual achievement is recognised and celebrated and every effort is made to ensure that each child`s potential is fulfilled.

Established strengths:

  • The leadership of the head teacher based on a secure personal Christian faith
  • The excellent behaviour, manners and positive attitudes of the children;
  • The good relationships between children and adults with tolerance, care and forgiveness clearly evident;
  • Support for the work of the school through strong links with St James` Church
  • The school, through its distinctive Christian character, is good at meeting the needs of all learners.
"Children at St James` feel safe, valued and special and saying that "Our teachers really help us and care for us" and describing their head teacher as "kind, fair and helpful."

"Children are proud that there is no bullying in their school and whenever conflicts arise there is speedy resolution by trusted adults"

"Behaviour is excellent, based on clear rules and positive expectations and this leads to a calm and purposeful atmosphere in which effective learning can take place."

The impact of collective worship on the school community is good.

"The head teacher, her staff team and the vicar all provide effective leadership."

"Children were respectful and attentive, participating in prayers and singing tunefully and enthusiastically"

The effectiveness of the leadership and management of the school as a church school is satisfactory.

"The head teacher provides very effective leadership for the school community."

"The majority of parents acknowledge and value the loyalty and commitment of the head teacher to the school community, describing how she deals sensitively and fairly with problems which arise and continues to work for strong links with the village community "
