Great news! Fordhall Farm near Market Drayton, Britain's pioneer organic farm, has been saved from closure. Brother and sister Charlotte and Ben Hollins had until tomorrow to raise £800,000 in order to buy the farm from the existing landowner. Failure to do so would have seen the farm turned into an industrial estate.

Audlem Online is pleased to report that the sum has been reached, with just one day to spare. People from all over the world have bought shares in the farm, including celebrities Prunella Scales and Sting. Shares are still available – for £50 you can own 32 square metres of farmland. For more information visit their website at Fordhall Farm. (The website link that was here no longer works)
