Yes, there's not just beer but poetry too on offer today at the Bridge Inn.

This follows the sensational success of the first Audlem Poetry Slam on Thursday night at the pub, the opening event of this year's Festival and an experimental event, to say the least.

The Festival committee were worried, organiser Emma Pursehouse was worried! Would poets turn up? Would an audience turn out?

Fear not – the pub was packed: no fewer than sixteen poets from afar and local to Audlem competed: and the standard was amazing.

More on the Poetry Slam soon. Our second photo shows Ralph Warburton, chairman of Audlem Festival, presenting Mark Niel with the first ever Audlem Poetry Slam trophy.

Today, the poetry continues. From 12.00noon it's the Beyond the Graves Poetry workshop at The Bridge Inn

Join writer and performance poet Emma Purshouse for a free writing workshop designed to get your creative flow flowing.

The Introduction takes place at The Bridge Inn and then it's off round the cemetery and churchyard for creative writing inspiration... if you dare.
