Fixing the roads

There was a particularly interesting suggestion yesterday on the Chatbox from Potholer. He or she said:

"If anyone encounters or sees any potholes or broken and sunken road surfaces they should go on the Cheshire East website (www.cheshireeast.gov.uk) and find the link for 'report a highway fault'

"This link then takes you to a map where you can pin a flag at the point of the road fault, and report it.

"I have had good success with this last year when the road I travel on everyday (Coole Lane) became riddled with potholes and broken verges. The council contacted me and did do a great deal of repairs.

"I suspect that any reports they get have to be responded to, as if someone had an accident/puncture due to a reported pot hole the council would be seen as negligent.

"I would urge everyone in Audlem to report any road problems via the CE website and get our roads back to a 'reasonable' condition. If the council had lots of reports, from locals, they might do something to remedy the situation."

Sounds like good advice which might improve the roads. After all, in the Parish Plan survey a couple of years ago, just 1% of respondents thought the condition of local roads was 'good' and 73% said they were 'poor' or 'very poor'. So there's certainly room for improvement!

Our photos were taken in Buerton and Salford (the local one!).
